AUGUST NEWSLETTER

When you live for one thing it makes life less complicated.  The Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 3:13, “But one thing I do; forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead.”  Jesus said on the sermon on the mount, “But seek ye FIRST the Kindgom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”  There is power in focus.  It’s the difference between a laser and a flashlight.  A laser concentrates on one thing while the flashlight has a broader perspective.

We often are so consumed by what we eat, what we wear, and what we achieve that life becomes a strain to keep all those balls in the air.  What if, in August, we could redirect our focus to things that truly last?  What if, each morning for the next 31 days, we ask ourselves this question –What am I going to do today that will last for the next 50 years?

A group of sold-out, single-minded, and spiritually committed believers pursued the vision of a church that would impact the world with the gospel and advance the Kingdom of God.  And now, here we are 51 years later still winning souls, sending out missionaries, and impacting our community for Christ.  Every one of those charter members who planned, prayed, and sacrificed for the vision of Landmark Baptist Church are now in Heaven, but their impact remains.  

The poet said, “One life and soon it will pass; only what is done for Jesus will last.”  During this month, consider the opportunity to serve the Lord in His church inspired by the contributions of those who went before us.  Landmark must keep on advancing and achieving the vision until His Kingdom comes!  Are we going to live for things that are here today and gone tomorrow?  Let’s choose to live for things that are going to out last and out live us!

Remember, Jesus promised provisions to all who would seek the Kingdom first.  August is a good month to rediscover the Kingdom mindset that makes us Kingdom people.
