MAY NEWSLETTER
Praise God for the RAIN! I know the draught is far from over, but drops of mercy cleansing the air, refreshing the earth, and lessening the pollen count . . . hallelujah! I noticed how quickly the grass recovered, the flowers regained their colors, and even the birds sang notes of joy and appreciation. Why should the Lord send abundance of rain if we do not appreciate the showers He sent today?!
Did you know that there are 22 references to rain in the Bible? Rain represented God’s favor, blessing, and love. The first rain recorded in scripture came to wash away the sins of a corrupt world. In Israel, the people of God long for the former and latter rains that are mentioned in scripture. The former rains came in October/November and the latter rainy season occurred in March/April. Without the rain, harvest would not be possible!
Zechariah 10:1 says, “Ask the Lord for rain in the time of the latter rain.” Many of God’s blessings are associated with fervent prayer. I am so glad God said “ASK.” If we had to earn or deserve by our righteousness His blessing of rain, we would be in constant draught! Asking is looking up to Him and it positions us to receive what He already wants to give. Metaphorically, train is associated with the Holy Spirit and spiritual growth.
As we head into the month of May, let us fervently pray for the refreshing, reviving, and renewing rain of God’s Spirit. Mercy drops round us are falling, but for the showers we plead!
Let’s go from drops to downpours! LBC needs rain that restores joy and produces a harvest of souls.
Bring an unbrella,
